Project Summary

Rare earth elements are notoriously difficult to extract efficiently from a mineral processing stand point. Therefore, the State of Alaska’s Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development asked the Mineral Industry Research Laboratory(MIRL), University of Alaska Fairbanks, to explore strategies that may apply to Alaska’s rare earth resources. UCore supplied xray sorted ore from their Bokan Mountain project to MIRL for the research project. The project included liberation studies, gravity, magnetic separation, leaching and flotation.
